HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: WILLIAMSON EARNS NON-LEAGUE WIN OVER NORTHERN POTTER (2024-04-20)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportULYSSES, PA — Williamson pounded out 15 base hits and used a late, seven run inning to pull away from Northern Potter for a 15-4, non-league softball win here Saturday.
The Lady Warriors scored in their first at-bat as Mikenna Buchanan drove both Olivia Gee and Kenna Thomas in for an early 2-0 lead. NoPo answered with a run in the bottom first and after a scoreless second frame Williamson plated another two runs thanks to singles from Lexi Smalley, Buchanan and Kaegan Short and a double from Thomas.
Up 4-0, the Warriors added a run in the 4th as Smalley scored Gee with a single after Gee reached first on a bunt single. Buchanan and Bailee Smith singles, a Short double, a NoPo error off the bat of Joelie Stephens and a sacrifice fly by S Dean pushed across three runs in the 5th inning and Williamson had an 8-1 lead going into the 6th.
Thomas smacked a 2-run home run and the Warriors batted around in the 6th to score their final seven runs. Northern Potter added three runs in their final at-bat.
Gee earned the win in the circle, going six innings and allowing four runs (3 earned) on seven base hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.
