NTL SOFTBALL: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY MOVES TO 12-0 WITH ROUT OF LADY HORNETS (2024-04-23)

WELLSBORO — North Penn-Liberty followed up a hard-fought, one-run win over Corning Monday with a road game at Wellsboro on Tuesday, rolling to a 16-0 win over the host Lady Hornets to move to 12-0 on the season.

Sophomore Haley Litzelman threw a four inning one-hitter and struck out seven for the Mounties, and also drove in four runs on two hits, including a three-run home run in the third inning when Liberty went up 12-0 on the Hornets. 

Saige Lehman, Megan Spohn and Mackenzi Tice each had a pair of base hits, with Lehman adding a triple, two RBI and four runs scored, Spohn collecting a double, three RBI and one run and Tice knocking in three runs and scoring four times. 

Addie Smith had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, Marissa Griess had a double and scored, Nikki Kiscadden had a base hit and scored twice and Payton Chapel and Mckenna Lightner each scored a run. 

Wellsboro’s lone hit came when Abby Owlett led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a double. Litzelman would induce a pair of pop-outs to the circle and strike out the final batter to end the game.

Mazie Johnson took the loss for the Hornets, going four innings and giving up 16 runs (10 earned) on 11 base hits and three walks with a pair of strikeouts. 

Wellsboro falls to 2-6 on the season with the loss. They’re scheduled to host Athens on Friday. Liberty stays perfect at 12-0 on the season with their 36th straight regular-season win. They’re scheduled to return to pla on Friday at Towanda.
