NTL SOFTBALL: WELLSBORO DROPS BOTH ENDS OF DOUBLEHEADER WITH WILDCATS (2024-04-26)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Hornets lost their 5th and 6th straight games here Friday afternoon, falling in both ends of a doubleheader with Athens, 18-0 and 15-0.
In Game 1, the Wildcats held Wellsboro to just one hit .. a 2nd-inning single by Bailee Confer .. and the Hornets were no-hit in Game 2.
Mazie Johnson took the loss in the first game, going all three innings and giving up 10 hits and four walks with a pair of strikeouts.
In Game 2, Confer pitched two and two-thirds innings allowing six base hits and four walks. Paige Logsdon would come in to record the final out.
Athens came into the day 3-5 overall and 0-4 in the large school division.
Wellsboro, now 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the NTL-I, is scheduled to return to play on Saturday at Bishop Neumann at 1 p.m.
