THE VALLEY — Northeast Bradford junior Gracelyn Laudermilch, and Sayre junior Marco Quiros qualified for States in multiple events at last week’s District 4, Class AA Track & Field Championships. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional “Athletes of the Week,” for the week ending May 17.

NEB’S LAUDERMILCH NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Laudermilch was a district champion in the 3200, a state qualifier in the 1600 and 800, and a district medalist in the 4x800.

She won the 3200 in 11:08.04, took second in the 800 in 2:19.83, and was third in the 1600 in 5:09.17 — all state qualifying marks.

She also helped the 4x800 relay place fifth in 10:09.92.

Honorable Mentions: Athens’ Abby Burgess and Sara Bronson (track & field), Corning’s Hannah Smith (flag football), Owego’s Ashlyn Dalton (flag football), and Wellsboro’s Piper Hoprich.

SAYRE’S QUIROS NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Quiros qualified for the PIAA Track & Field Championships in two events, winning a District 4 title in the 400-meter dash in the process.

Quiros also qualified in the 200-meter dash, placing fourth in a time of 22.72 seconds — below the state standard of 22.8 seconds.

Quiros also reached the podium in the 100-meter dash with a seventh-place finish.
