TIOGA COUNTY — The 2023-24 All-Tioga County male ‘Super 7’ Athletes of the Year is led by North Penn-Mansfield football, basketball and baseball standout Karson Dominick.

Dominick started his senior year off by returning under center for the Panthers for the third straight year and led an otherwise inexperienced squad to a 4-6 regular season record and into the District 4 playoffs. The All-Tioga County Co-Player of the Year accounted for over 1,400 yards and had 18 total TDs. Dominick threw a touchdown pass in all but one game .. and two TD passes six times. He also had 22 tackles and two picks on defense while also handling the Panthers’ kicking and punting duties. 

In the winter, the D2 Lock Haven basketball-commit put on a scoring clinic nearly every night and averaged  24.7 points per game in every way possible .. making 37 threes, shooting 72% from the line, drives to the basket, acrobatic finishes, dunks, and pull-up jumpers from anywhere on the floor .. and hit for 20-plus in 21 of the Tigers’ 25 games, had over 30 four times and scored a career-high 41 in a mid-season win over Wyalusing. Dominick also led the Tigers with 7 rebounds per game .. going over 600 career boards in his final high school game .. and handed out 3 assists per outing .. with over 200 in his 95 varsity game career .. and was Mansfield’s high scorer in every game this season, despite being the center of every opposing team’s defensive plan. 

Dominick was instrumental to North Penn-Mansfield’s 5-win improvement in baseball, both behind the plate as the Tigers’ catcher and at the plate where he hit .358 with 24 base hits (including five doubles), 15 RBI and 12 runs scored while also going 3-1 on the mound for the Tigers, throwing 27 and a third innings with a 5.63 ERA and 28 strikeouts. 

The remaining ’Super 7’ male Athletes of the 2023-24 school year are .. 

Kristian Mizdail, Williamson basketball, T&F/Cowanesque Valley XC, senior .. All-Tioga County male XC ‘Runner of the Year’, won a 12th-place medal at the PIAA Cross Country Championships (16:29), won bronze at the District 4 Championships (15:56) and won the NTL Coaches’ Invite title (17:23.51); was All-Tioga County 1st Team basketball scoring 16.7 points per game for Warriors with 30 three-pointers .. had games of 28 and 27; former State T&F medalist won NTL titles in both the 1600m and 3200m, placed 2nd in both at Districts and was 10th in the 1600m at States and 16th in the 3200m.

Caden Smith, Wellsboro soccer, basketball, baseball, senior .. led the Hornets to their second straight NTL soccer Championship with 19 goals and 7 assists .. point guard scored 8.5 points per game with 29 threes, 3.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game and had 11 blocks for the Hornets’ basketball team and in the spring, Smith was named the All-Tioga County Defensive Player of the Year after going 4-1 on the mound for the 8-12 Hornets and when he wasn’t pitching he was a Gold Glove shortstop and hit .371 with a .451 OBP, 25 base hits (4-2B), 17 runs scored and 8 RBI.

Cooper Shaw, North Penn-Mansfield football, basketball, baseball, junior .. hauled in 35 receptions for 364 yards and 6 total TDs for the Panthers in the fall and added 64 tackles, 2 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries; Averaged 10.5 points, 7 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Tigers’ basketball team, with 40 threes, 37 steals and 9 blocked shots; the All-Tioga County pitcher of the year won four games for the 13-8 Tigers, saved three more and struck out 47 batters in 53 innings of work. The junior held down first base when not on the mound, and collected 19 base hits on the season with 14 RBI and 14 runs scored.

Luke Kreger, North Penn-Mansfield football, T&F, North Penn-Liberty basketball, sophomore .. helped the North Penn-Mansfield Panthers to a District 4 appearance by hauling in 28 receptions for 539 yards and seven touchdowns. In the Winter, Kreger was named the All-Tioga County Sixth Man of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year after coming off the bench for the 12-12 North Penn-Liberty Mounties and averaging 8.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Kreger was a consistent point-winner for the NP-Mansfield Track & Field team in the Spring and won a District 4 medal with a 4th-place finish in the high jump.

Lucas Cuneo, Wellsboro soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, junior .. was vital to Wellsboro as they won their second straight NTL boys soccer title with 13 goals and 9 assists for the 15-4-1 Hornets .. worked his way into a contributing defensive role for the Wellsboro basketball team and added 3 points per game .. pulled double-duty in the Spring, winning 4 singles matches for the NTL champion Hornets and patrolling the outfield for the Wellsboro baseball team with a .295 on-base-percentage, 10 base hits and 7 stolen bases.

Zack Wilcox, North Penn-Liberty soccer, North Penn-Mansfield T&F, senior .. coaches’ selection as NTL All-State recipient after scoring 18 goals with 22 assists for the 11-10 Mounties .. has announced his intent to run Track and play soccer at NAIA Penn State Schuylkill and in the Spring, finished 3rd in the 800m at Districts with a State qualifying time of 1:55.72. At States, Wilcox ran a 1:56.42 and won a 5th-place medal. Wilcox was also one of the area’s premier triple jumpers, earning a 5th-place medal at Districts.
