Northern Tier West Sports Report
HORSEHEADS, NY — The NY Lady Rebels 14U travel softball team continued their successful summer schedule with a pair of wins in the rain-shortened Rebels Northeast Open tournament this past Saturday.

In their opener, Ashley Woodring and Ruby Sherman each hit a home run and Payton Chapel had a pair of hits in an 8-2 win over the Blizzard. Logan Hamilton and Madi Palmer each had a double, while Mackenzie Tice, Saige Lehman, Addie Smith and Megan Spohn added hits.

Tice picked up the win, going four innings and allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts.

In their second game, Chapel tossed a no-hitter in the Lady Rebels 11-0 win over the Roc City Redhawks, fanning nine with no walks and just missing out on a perfect game by hitting one batter.

Tice collected two hits, two RBI and a run scored, while Smith and Amber James each had a double and scored twice. James added two RBI and Woodring, Lehman and Chapel each drove in a run.

The Rebels will close out their summer schedule when they travel to Ocean City, MD next weekend for the USA Eastern Nationals.
