TRAVEL SOFTBALL: WEST TRIO LEADING NY LADY REBELS 16U (2024-07-25)

The NY Lady Rebels 16U Gold travel softball squad has had a very successful summer schedule and features a trio of Tioga County athletes. 

Cowanesque Valley’s Zeraya Wilson and Williamson’s Kenna Thomas and Olivia Gee all play for the Lady Rebels.

The Rebels were the July 4th Explosion Tournament champs in Chester, NY, where Wilson led the Lady Rebels to a 6-0 record with nine base hits in 14 at-bats with a triple, a double, three RBIs, six runs scored and six stolen bases. 

Thomas and Gee each went 2-0 on the mound, with Thomas allowing no runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and Gee giving up three runs on seven hits with four Ks. 

At the All-Sanctioned Softball World Series in Columbus, Ohio, the Rebels went 7-1 and finished in the top-4 of the 114-team event. They went 4-0 in Pool Play .. outscoring their opponents 42-5 .. and won three close games to reach the tourney semifinals. 

A Thomas two-run homer was the difference in the Rebels’ 3-2 win over Mad Apple while Gee earned a 5-4 win over Hitting Center 07 where Wilson had a pair of base hits. A 6-3 win over St. Mary’s Pounders led to a narrow, 3-2 loss on a sac bunt in the semis against Ohio MOJO.

In the Homerun Softball 18U College Showcase in Binghamton, the Lady Rebels won four straight games .. 15-0, 10-0, 11-0, 1-0 .. after an opening round loss.

The Lady Rebels 16U Gold are scheduled to play in their final tournament this weekend in Morgantown, West Virginia.
