HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER: FITCH HAT TRICK LIFTS HORNETS TO WIN OVER SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT (2024-08-31)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Hornets picked up their second non-conference win and third straight to start the season Saturday, blanking the visiting South Williamsport Mounties 5-0.
Micaiah Fitch finished with a hat trick and opened the scoring 15 minutes in with a goal off a Jack Bryant assist and Lucas Cuneo scored with just over six minutes left in the first half to send the Hornets into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Fitch scored unassisted eight minutes into the second half and Alex Citrino scored to make it 4-0 with four and a half minutes remaining. Fitch completed his hat trick with his third goal just :22 seconds later.
The Hornets held an 18-4 advantage in shots and had eight corner kicks to NoPo’s two.
Keeper Camden Tom had a pair of saves in net for Wellsboro.
The Hornets (3-0) are scheduled to play at Athens on Tuesday.
