NTL BOYS SOCCER: HORNETS EDGE ATHENS TO STAY UNBEATEN (2024-09-03)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
ATHENS, PA — Senior Micaiah Fitch scored the game’s lone goal about 10 minutes in and Wellsboro’s defense kept Athens off the board in a 1-0 win here Tuesday in NTL boys soccer action.

“It was a physical game all 80 minutes,” said Hornets’ Head Coach Todd Fitch, “We connected on an attacking opportunity and our defenders contained Athens’ attack. It wasn’t our best game, but it’s always a good night coming away from Athens with a win.”

Micaiah Fitch drove a laser shot from 20 yards out just inside the near post with 30:12 remaining in the first half and the Hornets’ defense made the lead stand.

Wellsboro had a 7-1 advantage in shots-on-goal and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks, while Wellsboro keeper Camden Tom had one save in net.

The Hornets (4-0, 2-0 NTL) are scheduled to visit Liberty on Thursday to take on the Mounties (3-1, 2-1 NTL).
