HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: FAIRCHILD, KNEFLEY LEAD TIGERS AT LASAGNA INVITE (2024-09-06)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWYALUSING — Sophmores Jaci Fairchild and James Knefley led the North Penn-Mansfield girls and boys cross country squads at the Lasagna Invite Friday, finishing in 3rd and 4th place in their respective races.
Fairchild ran a 20:42.9 to lead the Lady Tigers (102) to a 4th place finish. Elk Lake (42) won the girls race, followed by Towanda (51), Wyalusing (73), NP-Mansfield (102) Sullivan County (110) and Wellsboro (121).
Nora Furry finished 23rd (26:13.9), Carolyn Cherwinski was 24th (26:33.8), Kendelle Holleran placed 25th (26:39.9), Moira Wheeler was 27th (27:01.6), Alivia Lisowski was 35th (30:00.5) and Layla Lowry finished 39th (38:14.5).
On the boys’ side Knefley ran an 18:11.7 to finish 4th and the Tigers placed 6th (123). Towanda won (37) while Wyalusing was 2nd (69), Canton was 3rd (82), Wellsboro finished 4th (94) and Sullivan County was one spot ahead of Mansfield in 5th (105).
Braden VanLoon was 22nd (21:14.6) while Luke Tice was 31st (23:31.1), Landyn Empet finished 32nd (24:05.4) and Iaiah VanLoon was 34th (24:36.6.
North Penn-Mansfield returns to action Tuesday when they host Athens.
