Athens sophomore QB Connor Davidson had a monster game in the Wildcats’ upset of Canton, and Troy senior Kali Ayres led the Trojans to a team title at the Williamson Tournament. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional “Athletes of the Week,” for the week ending Sept. 7.

ATHENS’ DAVIDSON NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
Davidson accounted for all six of the Wildcats’ six TDs in their 48-42 win over Canton.

Davidson rushed for 202 yards, and four TDs on 34 carries, scoring on runs of 1, 31, 10, and 2 yards.

Davidson also completed 9 of 17 passes for 183 yards, and two TDs. His TD passes covered 35 and 25 yards.

Honorable Mentions: Towanda’s Brayden Spencer (soccer), Wellsboro’s Micaiah Fitch (soccer), SVEC’s Noah Banks (soccer), and Horseheads’ Dom Cardinale (football).

TROY’S AYRES NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
Ayres led Troy to a first-place finish at the Williamson Tournament, and a 3-1 win over Towanda.

At the Williamson Tournament, Ayres collected 32 digs, 30 kills, 27 setter assists, and seven service aces.
