HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD EARNS DRAW WITH NON-LEAGUE NORTHUMBERLAND CHRISTIAN (2024-09-12)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — North Penn-Mansfield earned their first non-loss of the season Thursday as they rallied for a goal in the second half to tie Northumberland Christian in a non-league girls soccer match-up.
Northumberland Christian scored their goal 30 minutes into the first half and led 1-0 at the break.
After intermission Mansfield got a goal from Avalon Rew .. assisted by Brooke Wilcox .. to send the match into overtime. After two scoreless extra frames the teams settled for the 1-1 draw.
Northumberland Christian held a 9-8 edge in shots-on-goal while the Tigers had a 9-7 advantage in corner kicks.
Rew started in net for NP-Mansfield and had four saves while Adalyn Yungwirth had one and Abaigeal Garverick made three stops in goal.
The Tigers, now 0-5-1 on the season, are scheduled to return to play Tuesday at home against Williamson.
