NTL BOYS SOCCER: WELLSBORO EDGES ATHENS 1-0 (2024-09-23)

Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
WELLSBORO — A second half goal by David Seeling proved to be the game winner as Wellsboro shut out Athens 1-0 in an NTL boys soccer match-up here Monday.

Seeling took a rebounded direct kick from Micaiah Fitch and found the net with 16:29 left for the game’s lone score.

The Hornets held an 8-5 advantage in shots-on-goal and both squads had four corner kicks while keeper Camden Tom had four saves for the clean sheet.

“After giving up five goals on Saturday, we were pleased to see our keeper and defensive line keep a clean sheet tonight," said Head Coach Todd Fitch, "Although we were able to move the ball in our attacking half, Athens did a good job limiting our opportunities at goal. Converting on a free kick was the difference for us in this match.”

Wellsboro improves to 9-2 overall on the season with the win. They’re scheduled to host North Penn-Liberty on Wednesday.
