HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD FALLS IN 2ND O.T. TO MEADOWBROOK (2024-09-28)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportMILTON, PA — The North Penn-Mansfield girls soccer team went two overtime periods with Meadowbrook Christian here Saturday, but the Lady Lions scored in the 2nd extra period to secure a 3-2 win over the Tigers.
Home squad MCA scored first before the Tigers’ Karen Wetzel took a pass from Brooke Wilcox and scored to tie the game at 1-all, which lasted into the break.
Meadowbrook retook the lead less than five minutes into the second half, and Wilcox tied the game at 2-2 when she scored on a penalty kick at the 65:45 mark of the match.
After a scoreless first OT period, MCA got the game winner with less than 4 minutes remaining.
Meadowbrook held a 14-9 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Keeper Avalon Rew recorded 11 saves in net for the Tigers.
NP-Mansfield (0-11-1) is scheduled to return to action Tuesday at Williamson.
