NTWSR PRESENTS THE LAUREL HEALTH 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (September 29, 2024)Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY, PA — This week's Laurel Health 'Athletes of the Week' are Cowanesque Valley golfer Laila Hackett and North Penn-Liberty soccer’s/North Penn-Mansfield golfer Tate Strange.
Hacket finished tied for 1st at the District 4 individual qualifier tournament, carding a 91 .. 9 strokes below the required 100 to earn a berth at the D4 Championships.
Strange scored twice in the second half of the Mounties’ 3-2 win over Jersey Shore, scored a goal in a 6-2 loss to Wellsboro and scored Liberty’s game-winner with less than four minutes remaining to seal a 3-2 win over Williamson. At the District 4 Team Golf Championships, Strange carded an 84 to help the Tigers to a 2nd place finish and to qualify for the District tourney.
