NTL CROSS COUNTRY: CV HOSTS TRI-MEET WITH WELLSBORO, TOWANDA (2024-10-01)

WESTFIELD — Cowanesque Valley hosted a boys and girls cross country tri-meet with Wellsboro and Towanda here Tuesday.

Wellsboro’s Max Macias and Lauren Kosek each won their respective races, as the Hornet girls went 1-1 and the boys were 0-2. 

The CV boys beat Wellsboro 24-33 and fell to Towanda, 19-42, while the Lady Indians had just one runner and lost to both the Lady Knights and Wellsboro.

Macias ran 18:57, nearly a full minute ahead of Towanda's Jack Tavani, who finished 2nd in 19:41.

CV’s Hunter Simonds was 3rd (19:47), Wellsboro’s Henry Whitney (20:08) finished 5th, CV’s Matthew McKee was 9th (21:11), teammates Judah Mummert (21:54), Troy Madison (22:26) and Nathaniel Boyer (23:02) were 12th, 13th and 14th, Wellsboro’s Lane Cozby (23:02) was 15th, CV’s Carson Kemp was 16th (24:05), Wellsboro’s Jack Hammerton (24:36) finished 17th and Ethan Geneski (24:41) was 18th, CV’s Dominick Koehler was 19th (24:50), teammates Jeremy Fuhrer (25:04) and Isaiah Fuhrer (25:06) were 22nd and 23rd and Wellsboro’s Henry Nowak (27:12) finished 24th.

On the girls side, Kosek was first in 21:15, beating the Lady Knights' Izzy Larson (22:15) by a full minute.

CV’s Natalie Yonker finished 3rd (22:40), while Wellsboro’s Molly Tice (27:22), Sophia Yoder (27:39), Anja Przybycien (27:47), Karah Blackwell (27:49), and Luisa Crocco (33:52) were 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 16th.

Towanda beat Wellsboro 20-43 and both teams beat Cowanesque Valley, 15-50.

Wellsboro and CV are both back in action next Saturday for the NTL Coaches Invite at Northeast Bradford.
