HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER: WELLSBORO EARNS NON-LEAGUE WIN OVER PORT ALLEGANY (2024-10-07)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportPORT ALLEGANY — The Wellsboro girls soccer team snapped a six game non-winning streak Monday, topping non-league Port Allegany 3-1.
The Lady Hornets took a 1-0 lead when Ella Boyce scored just after midway through the first half and took that lead into the break.
Kat Bryant gave the Hornets a 2-0 lead at the 18:44 mark of the second half and Luna Moyer scored a minute and a half later to put Wellsboro up 3-0. Port Allegany scored a late goal to avoid the clean sheet.
Wellsboro held a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
Keeper Jadyn Dunlap recorded six saves in net for Wellsboro.
Wellsboro, whose last win was nearly a month ago, improves to 3-7-2 on the season. They’re scheduled to host North Penn-Mansfield on Wednesday.
