NTL VOLLEYBALL: WILLIAMSON EARNS WIN OVER WYALUSING ON NIGHT OF CELEBRATIONS (2024-10-08)

TIOGA JUNCTION, PA — Williamson celebrated a milestone reached by junior Raegan VanGorden and the return of senior team leader Sophie Sargent here Tuesday as the Lady Warriors beat the visiting Wyalusing Lady Rams 3-1 in NTL volleyball action.

Sargent returned to the court after a pair of ACL injuries took away her entire junior season and most of this year as well, although Head Coach Nicole VanGorden emphasized that the senior remained committed to her team.

“Soph has attended every practice, open gym, camp .. everything .. for the last two seasons,” said VanGorden, “all while rehabbing her injuries. I’m so happy to see her walk back on the court.”

The Warriors won the first set 25-20 over the Rams and rolled to a 25-14 win in the second set, during which the younger VanGorden, Raegan, recorded the one thousandth assist of her career. The junior finished with 25 helpers Tuesday, and added 12 service points with four aces, six digs and a pair of kills. 

Wyalusing took the third set 25-22 before Williamson closed out the match with a 25-12 win in the fourth. 

Sargent led the Warriors with 17 service points in her return, adding four aces, four kills and four digs, while Leah Earle had nine kills, seven digs and seven points, Abby Gehman and Olivia Nolan each had six kills, Aubrey Wells had eight points and two kills, Bailey Snyder had eight points and four digs and Joelie Stephens had six digs, two assists and three points. 

The Lady Warriors (9-2, 6-2 NTL-II) return to play on Thursday when they visit North Penn-Liberty.
