NTL BOYS SOCCER: MOUNTIES BLANK TOWANDA ON SENIOR NIGHT (2024-10-08)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportLIBERTY, PA — The North Penn-Liberty boys soccer team celebrated their senior recognition night with a 3-0 win over the visiting Towanda Black Knights here Tuesday.
Senior Ayden Wheeland opened the scoring with a goal off an assist from classmate Brady Stetter at the 22:07 mark of the first half and the Mounties took the 1-0 lead into the break.
Wheeland scored off a corner kick at the 26:33 mark of the second half and freshman Mason Forer found the net on a rebounded Stetter shot less than 30 seconds later to provide the final.
The Mounties outshot Towanda 11-9 and junior keeper Deakon Valentine got the clean sheet, stopping all nine of the Black Knights shots on goal.
North Penn-Liberty improves to 11-5-1 overall on the season with the win. They’re scheduled to host their regular season finale on Thursday against Athens before beginning the District 4 playoffs.
