Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
LIBERTY, PA — After more than 89 minutes of scoreless action, Athens came through at the end of the overtime period and scored to hand North Penn-Liberty a 1-0 loss in the Mounties’ final game of the regular season.

The Mounties, now 11-7-1, and the Wildcats battled to a 1-1 draw in their first meeting at Athens on Sept. 13.

Athens had a 10-6 edge in shots-on-goal and a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks, while keeper Deakon Valentine had nine saves in net for the Mounties.

The loss concludes North Penn-Liberty’s regular season. They’ll await the District 4 Class AA playoffs, where they currently are in the 9th spot of what could be up to a 13-team field.
