NTL VOLLEYBALL: WELLSBORO WINS WEST BATTLE WITH WILLIAMSON (2024-10-15)

TIOGA JUNCTION — In a match-up of the No. 2 and 3 Class AA volleyball teams in District 4, Wellsboro came away with a 3-1 win over Williamson here Tuesday night. 

The Lady Hornets won the first two sets .. 25-22 and 25-21 .. before the Lady Warriors rallied to take the third set 25-17. Wellsboro sealed the league win with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set. 

Paige Logsdon led the Lady Hornets with 11 kills and added three solo blocks and one assisted. Lexi Urena had nine kills and 14 digs, Maddy Cruttenden had 17 digs and 14 service points with two aces, Taylor Main had 15 assists and 11 points with three aces, Blake Eckart had 12 digs and seven points with five aces, Ellie Largey had nine assists and Alyssa Chilson had five kills and a block. 

Williamson’s Joelie Stephens collected 18 digs on the night, including the 1,000th of her career. The senior libero added four kills and five service points for the Warriors. 

Abby Gehman had 10 kills while Leah Earle had eight and added 15 points with three aces and 10 digs. Raegan VanGorden had 28 assists, nine points with three aces and three digs, Olivia Nolan had three kills, four blocks, three points and three digs, Sophie Sargent had four points, two kills and two digs and Madisen Jones had two kills and a block.

The Hornets improve to 14-3 overall on the season with the win, including an 11-1 mark in the NTL and are 5-1 in the large school division. They visit Troy (16-2, 10-1 NTL, 7-0 large school division) on Thursday.

Williamson, now 10-3 on the year with a 9-3 league mark and a 6-1 record in the small school division, visit NEB (16-2, 10-2 NTL, 8-1 small school division) on Thursday.
