HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER: WILLIAMSON EDGED BY HUGHESVILLE IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE (2024-10-19)

Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
HUGHESVILLE — The Williamson girls soccer team battled top-3 District 4 club Hughesville on Saturday, giving up a lone, second half goal to the 13-4-1 Lady Spartans to fall 1-0 in the Lady Warriors final regular season game.

After playing to a 0-0 draw in the first half, Hughesville snuck the eventual game-winner in about 10 minutes into the second frame.

Hughesvillle held a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 3-0 edge in corner kicks over the Warriors. Keeper Ashley Woodring made 14 saves in net for Williamson.

“The girls played amazing today,” said Williamson Head Coach Felisha Hackett after the game, “with only having two subs, the girls did a great job keeping the ball out of the net.”

Williamson finishes the regular season with a 12-6 record and earned the No. 7 seed in the upcoming District 4 Class AA playoffs. They’ll travel to Towanda on Wednesday to face No. 2 seed Troy in the first round.
