TOWANDA'S VANDERPOOL NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'Riley Vanderpool had another big game for Towanda in a 28-3 win over Tunkhannock — its fourth consecutive win.
Vanderpool
rushed for 228 yards, and two TDs on 19 carries, scoring on runs of 6
and 16 yards. He was also 5 of 9 for 28 yards through the air.
Both TDs came in the fourth quarter when the Knights led just 7-3.
He also had three tackles, including two solo stops, and a pass break-up.

OWEGO'S HERCEG NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'
Herceg
led Owego to wins over Windsor and Norwich, as well as an appearance in
the Gold Bracket semifinals at the Perrone Classic in Horseheads.
Herceg 36 setter assists in the 3-1 win over Windsor, and 17 assists and eight aces in a sweep of Norwich.
Herceg
led the River Hawks to a 6-0 mark in pool play at the Perrone, and a
win over Ithaca in the quarterfinals. On the day, she had 72 assists,
eight digs, seven service aces, six kills, and one block.
