COLLEGE WRESTLING: WILLIAMSON'S SPRAGUE & CUMMING OPEN SEASONS AT ITHACA INVITE (2024-11-07)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportITHACA, NY — Former Williamson wrestlers Ayden Sprague of the Penn College Wildcats and Owen Cumming of Alfred State each opened their collegiate wrestling seasons at the Ithaca College Invitational on November 1st and 2nd.
Each of the former Warriors competed in the 165 pound weight class, and each went 2-2 in the tourney.
Sprague started his sophomore season with a 19-3 technical fall before losing 7-5 to drop into the consolation bracket and winning by a 13-2 major decision to stay alive. An 11-3 loss ended Sprague’s tourney.
Cumming started his collegiate career off with a 21-9 major decision win, then was tech falled 15-0 and won his first consolation round match by a fall in 5:38. The freshman suffered a first period pin to end his tournament.
Sprague and his Penn College team return to action on November 16th at Altoona, followed by the Penn College Invite on November 23rd.
Cumming and the Pioneers are at the Washington and Jefferson Invite on November 9th.
