COLLEGE BASKETBALL: WILLIAMSON'S TR JONES OFF TO HOT START FOR CORNING (2024-11-10)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportCORNING, NY — Williamson grad TaylorRae Jones has led her Corning Community College Red Barons women’s basketball team to a 2-0 start while averaging 20+ points per game in her freshman season.
Jones opened her collegiate career on November 6th with 14 points, nine rebounds and five steals in a 52-41 Corning win over Finger Lakes CC.
On the 9th, the 2022-23 and 2023-24 NTWSR All-Tioga County Girls Basketball Player of the Year led the Barons to a 69-37 win over Cayuga with 29 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals.
The Red Barons, who finished 6-14 a season ago, will look to continue their strong start on Wednesday when they host Broome CC, followed by another home game against Fulton-Montgomery on Sunday, November 17th at 1:00 p.m.
Jones’ fellow Williamson grad Riley Sargent is also on Corning’s roster.
