Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — The Northern Tier WEST Sports Report ‘Athletes of the Week’ are North Penn-Liberty wrestler Bryce Pequignot and Wellsboro basketball’s Chloe Brandenburg.
Pequignot, a sophomore, went 3-1 at the Darren Klingerman Invitational in Bloomsburg, finishing as the runner-up in the 121 pound class after tech falling his first two opponents .. from Mt. Carmel and Sullivan County .. and earning a 13-2 major decision over Warrior Run’s Chase Wirnsberger to reach the final. Pequignot fell to highly-touted C.J. Caines to take 2nd at the tough DKI tourney.
Brandenburg scored 28 points in the Lady Hornets’ 53-50 season-opening win over South Williamsport. The senior guard hit 5 threes and went 5-of-6 from the line in the win.
