Wellsboro went up 11-7 after the first quarter behind 5 points each by Luke Rothermel and Mitchell Lechler, but the Redskins outscored the Hornets 15-9 in the second to take a slim, 22-20 lead into the locker rooms. 

A 6-6 third quarter left the deficit at 2 points before Wellsboro rallied to score 19 points in the fourth and hold Sayre to 8 to earn the win.

Lechler led Wellsboro with 18 points, including a 6-for-6 performance from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Rothermel recorded a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, while Jonathan Carl had 6 points and 7 boards, Marek Mascho had 5 points and 5 assists, Max Mascho had 3 points in his season debut and Lucas Cuneo and Griffin Morral each had a point, with Morral also grabbing 5 rebounds.

Wellsboro (1-2) is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday at Williamson.
