NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: CV CAN'T KEEP UP WITH WILDCATS IN 67-56 LOSS (2024-12-16)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportATHENS — A big Athens third quarter would make all the difference here Monday night as Cowanesque Valley couldn’t catch up to the host Wildcats and fell 67-56.
The Indians fell behind 21-14 after the first quarter but rallied to tie the game at 29-all at the break with a 15-8 advantage in the second frame.
Athens opened up an 11-point lead with a 20-9 third and held CV off by matching the Indians 18 fourth quarter points to provide the final.
Josh Teague led CV with 14 points in the loss .. including 8 points in the opening frame .. while Ashtyn Burdick scored 13 points and Carsyn Kemp and Jacob Johnson each added 9 points.
Levi Stahli had 6 points, Trevor Hollenback had 4 points and Parker Lee rounded out the Indians’ scoring with 1 point.
CV falls to 0-3 on the season with the loss. They’re scheduled to return to play on Thursday with a home game against Canton.
