NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD ROUTS CANTON TO STAY UNDEFEATED (2024-12-17)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportCANTON — North Penn-Mansfield built a big halftime lead and cruised to their 4th straight win to open the season, topping the host Warriors 64-36 in an NTL crossover boys basketball match-up here Tuesday.
Alex Davis led the Tigers with 19 points and scored 10 in the first quarter to help the Tigers jump out to a 20-7 early lead. Cooper Shaw added 6 in the opening frame and finished with 16 in the win.
Tate Strange scored 9 of his 12 game points in an 18-6 Mansfield 2nd quarter to help the Tigers take a 38-13 lead at the break. Strange added 4 assists and 6 steals while Shaw collected 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Davis had 5 assists and 4 steals.
Canton outscored NPM 13-7 in the 3rd quarter and Mansfield won the 4th 19-10 to provide the final.
Jason Harer and Brady Stetter each scored 6 points for the Tigers while Andy Hermansen had 3 points and Kevin Clemente-Vasquez rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
The Tigers improve to 4-0 on the season with the win. They’re scheduled to host Wellsboro on Thursday.
