NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: MOUNTIES KNOCK OFF SECOND STRAIGHT LARGE SCHOOL, BEATS TOWANDA 61-56 (2024-12-17)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportLIBERTY — The Mounties came back from an 8 point deficit midway through the 4th quarter to earn a 61-56 NTL crossover win over large school Towanda here Tuesday night.
Down 42-38 as they started the final quarter, NP-Liberty got 10 points from Luke Kreger and 6 from Evan McTish to take the 4th 23-14 and earn the win.
The Mounties had led 16-9 after the first quarter, getting 10 points from Adynn Wheeland, and took a 26-22 lead into the break after Towanda edged them 13-10 in the second.
Wheeland led the Mounties with 20 points, while Kreger had 16 and McTish just missed a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Kreger added 4 rebounds and 3 assists and McTish had 2 blocks and 5 steals.
Louis Mercantino had 8 points and 4 rebounds, Blake Oakley had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks and Brody Grinnell chipped in with 2 points.
With their second straight win, Liberty evens their season record at 3-3. They’re scheduled to host Northeast Bradford on Thursday.
