HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL: HORNETS FALL AT HUGHESVILLE (2025-01-20)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportHUGHESVILLE — The Hornets took to the road Monday with a trip to Hughesville and came away with a 69-51, non-league loss to the host Spartans.
Wellsboro led 13-11 after a quarter of play and were down just two points at the break .. 26-24 .. but Hughesville would use a 22-12 third quarter to open the game up and go on to seal the double-digit win.
Luke Rothermel led a balanced Hornet scoring attack with 12 points and added 6 rebounds and 3 steals, while Colin Fletcher and Mitch Lechler had 10 points each, Max Mascho and Jonathan Carl had 6 points each, Marek Mascho had 5 points, 5 assists and 3 steals and Gideon Lawton had 2 points.
Wellsboro drops a game below .500 at 7-8 with the loss. They’re scheduled to return to play on Wednesday when they host North Penn-Liberty.
