HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL: TIGERS CRUISE TO LOPSIDED WIN OVER NON-LEAGUE NEUMANN (2025-02-10)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportMANSFIELD — The Tigers closed out their regular season here Monday, jumping out to an early double-digit lead and rolling to a 71-30 mercy rule win over the visiting St. John Neumann Knights.
Sixth-man Jason Harer led North Penn-Mansfield with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds while Alex Davis added 11 points and 5 assists and Brady Stetter had 9 points and 10 rebounds.
Cooper Shaw scored all 10 of his game points in a 22-6 Tiger first quarter and Mansfield extended their lead to 39-19 at the halftime break, then outscored SJN 18-10 in the third quarter and held the Knights to a free throw in a 14-1 final frame.
Tayton Strange scored 6 points, Patrick Youmans, Kevin Clemente-Vasquez and Andy Hermansen had 4 points each, Talon D’Angelo had 3 points and Nicholas Applebee had 1 point.
North Penn-Mansfield finishes the regular season 19-3 with their eighth straight win. Their two league losses came to large school champ Troy while their lone remaining loss came against 4A Montoursville (11-11).
As the NTL-I runner-ups, the Tigers will take on small school champ North Penn-Liberty in the first round of the NTL Showdown on Thursday in Liberty at 7 p.m. NPM beat the Mounties 66-49 early in the season.
