NTL WRESTLING: WILLIAMSON CROWNS CHAMP AT NORTH SECTION, SENDING SIX TO DISTRICTS (0000-00-00)

WELLSBORO — The Warriors had a strong North Section tourney, finishing in 3rd place as a team and sending six wrestlers onto the District 4 Championships, led by 107 pound title winner Zander Wilson. 

Williamson got runner-up performances from Hunter Simonds (121), Ben Freeman (215) and Luke Sottolano (285) while fourth place finishers Noah Robinson (127) and Tim Freeman (189) will join their teammates in Williamsport next weekend. 

Wilson opened his title run with a semifinal tech fall over Liberty’s Bodhi Nickerson and beat NEB’s Mason Alexander 8-2 in the final to win the 107 pound championship.

Simonds started his day in the semis and pinned Liberty’s Charles Aumick, then was tech falled in the final by Towanda’s Curtis Maynard.

Ben Freeman also started in the semifinals at 215 pounds and earned a pin before falling to Towanda’s Sawyer Robinson in the final.

Sottolano got an 18 second pin in the quarterfinals, a 54 second pin in the semis over Troy’s Reed Palmer and fell 11-0 in the 285 pound final to Towanda’s Mason Higley to claim the silver.

Robinson won his quarterfinal match 16-11 before getting pinned by eventual runner-up Brayden Pequignot in the semis. A tech fall win in the consolations led to a 14-5 loss to Towanda’s Tanner Vanderpool in the 3rd-4th place match.

Tim Freeman opened his tourney with a pin in the quarters, lost 8-6 in the semifinals, got another fall to reach the consi finals and lost 5-0 to Canton’s Leland Pepper.

Walker Hyde (114) and Ryder Dacheux (133) each went 1-2 and claimed fifth place finishes while Lhandyn Nauman (145) went 2-3 and Steven Olson (160) went 1-3 and both placed sixth.

Kohen Flynn (139) and Jeremy Fuhrer (172) each went 0-2 on the day for the Warriors. 

Williamson scored 132 points to finish third as a team, behind champs Towanda (236.5) and Wyalusing (140).
