HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL: CV HITS THE ROAD FOR PLAYOFF OPENER (2025-02-17)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportSHICKSHINNY, PA — Cowanesque Valley earned the No. 6 seed in the District IV Class 2A girls basketball playoffs and will travel to take on No. 3 seed Northwest Area on Tuesday.
Northwest Area finished 18-4 in the regular season, with losses coming to Central Columbia (19-3), the top 4A team in District IV, Wyoming Seminary, No. 2 Class 2A Muncy and No. 5 Class 2A Southern Columbia.
CV finished 8-13 in the regular season, with wins over Northern Potter (11-8), North Penn-Mansfield (8-14), Athens (15-7), Williamson (7-14), North Penn-Liberty (9-13), Wellsboro (6-15) and Sayre (2-20) twice.
The Lady Indians have given up 44 points per game and average 40 scored per contest. CV is led by Ella Churchill, Ashley Woodring, Starr Ordway, Lily Vargeson and Jessie Quick.
A win over Northwest Area would pit the Indians against the winner between No. 2 seed Muncy and No. 7 seed Williamson.
