LIBERTY — Top-seeded North Penn-Liberty rolled to a 67-31 mercy rule win over Millville here Tuesday to advance to the semifinals of the District IV Class A playoffs.

Luke Kreger scored 21 points to lead Liberty while Adynn Wheeland added 11 points and Blake Oakley and Brody Grinnell added 10 points each.

The Mounties played most of the second half with a running clock after building leads of 17-7 after a quarter of play and limiting the Quakers to two second quarter points to take a 33-9 lead into the halftime break. 

Kreger scored 8 points in a 19-10 Liberty third quarter before the Mounties’ subs closed out the blowout win with a 15-12 final frame, led by Grinnell’s 6 points.

Liberty collected 24 steals in the lopsided win, led by Kreger’s 7, 5 by Oakley and 4 each by Wheeland and Louis Mercantino. 

Mercantino added 6 points for the Mounties while Conner Lewis had 6 points and 4 rebounds, Sudan Benner had 3 points and Ryan Johnson chipped in with 2 points. 

Oakley had 6 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and 5 assists for Liberty while Kreger grabbed 4 rebounds and had 2 assists, Wheeland had 4 assists, Grinnell had 3 steals and Mercantino had 2 assists. 

The Mounties advance to the Class A semis with the win and will play No. 4 seed Bucktail, 60-54 winners over No. 5 seed Northumberland Christian. 

On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 seed Sullivan County beat 7-seed Galeton 57-47 and No. 6 seed Lourdes Regional upset No. 3 seed Meadowbrook Christian.
