SEVENTEEN WEST WRESTLERS TO COMPETE AT DISTRICT IV 2A CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-02-19)
By Lance LarcomNorthern Tier WEST Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Seventeen Tioga County wrestlers will look to continue their run to Hershey on Friday and Saturday as they compete at the District IV 2A Championships at Williamsport High School.
Let’s take a look at each of our wrestler’s first bouts and at their bracket ..
107 Pounds
Williamson freshman Zander Wilson (35-0), the North Section champ, is the top seed and has a bye into the quarterfinal round. He’ll face the winner between Hughesville freshman Ethan Wodrig (30-16) and Mount Carmel sophomore Brayden Mirarck (19-17).
Wilson tech falled Wodrig earlier this season and hasn’t faced Mirarck.
North Penn-Liberty freshman Bodhi Nickerson (26-8), 3rd place finisher in the North Section, faces Muncy junior Roman Maiorana (18-12), who took 4th at the Central Sectional. The two haven’t wrestled this season but have a common opponent in Troy’s Garret Parks .. as Nickerson beat Parks 11-2 and Maiorana fell to Parks, 10-8.

North Penn-Liberty sophomore Bryce Pequignot (30-5), the North champ, has a bye as the top seed. He awaits the winner between Milton freshman Jordan Sassaman (17-18) and Montoursville sophomore Coltyn Wagner (10-4), neither of whom Pequignot has faced.
On the other half of the bracket are No. 2 seed Liam Seeley (37-10), a freshman from Montgomery that Pequignot beat 11-3 at the Turner Holiday Classic, and No. 3 seed Chase Wirnsberger (32-10), a freshman from Warrior Run who Pequignot majored 13-2 at the DKI. The 4 seed is Midd-West freshman Lane Yount (22-7), who Pequignot hasn’t faced, but who was pinned by Wirnsberger in the South Section finals.

Williamson junior Hunter Simonds (30-8) was the North runner-up and earned the No. 4 seed. He’ll wrestle the winner between Muncy junior Gage Swank (21-7) and Milton junior Aiden Twigg (17-12), neither of whom Simonds has faced or has any recent common opponents.
North Penn-Liberty junior Charles Aumick (12-8) placed 4th at sectionals and has a pigtail match against Lewisburg junior Nolan Altoft (22-14), who placed 3rd at the South Sectional. The two haven’t faced each other but have a recent, common opponent in Montgomery’s Porter Hall. Aumick lost to Hall 20-4 while Altoft has pinned Hall and got tech falled by him this season.

Liberty senior Brayden Pequignot (22-7) finished 2nd at Sectionals and has a preliminary round match against Benton freshman Gunner Sternhagen (10-16), the 4th place finisher out of the Central Section. They have a common opponent as both faced Johnsonburg’s Mario Casilio at IUP’s Mid-Winter Mayhem. Pequignot major decisioned Casilio 11-3 while Sternhagen got pinned in the second period.
With a win, Pequignot will face Mifflinburg sophomore Bradley Wagner (39-2), who Pequignot fell to at last season’s District and Regional tournaments, where Wagner placed 2nd and 1st on his way to a 7th place finish at States.
Williamson senior Noah Robinson (14-5) finished 4th at sectionals and is in the top half of the bracket, set to face Montgomery’s Carden Wagner, who placed 2nd at the Central Sectional. Pequignot is a common opponent and has pinned both this season.

Wellsboro junior Mason Nowak (13-16) finished 4th in the North Section and faces Warrior Run senior Caden Snyder (24-12), who placed 2nd in the South. The two have not faced each other and have no recent, common opponents.
With a win, Nowak would advance to face Montoursville senior Blaize Vogel (28-9), the Central Section champion.

North Penn-Liberty senior Riley Oakes (31-8) placed 3rd at sectionals and wrestles Montoursville junior Ryan Meredith (15-24), the 4th place finisher from the Central Section. Towanda’s Rylee Sluyter is a common opponent, as Oakes was edged 4-3 by Sluyter at sectionals and Sluyter tech falled Meredith in the District Duals.
With a win, Oakes will face Southern Columbia’s Brayden Andrews (36-4), the South Section champ.

Wellsboro senior Silas Mickey (13-14) took 4th at sectionals and will face Line Mountain junior Ethan Lenker (20-13), 3rd place finisher in the South Section, in a preliminary match. The two haven’t wrestled and don’t have a common opponent from this season.
With a win, Mickey would advance to face No. 2 seed Hayden Harvey (34-7) from Montoursville.

Wellsboro senior Evan Ingerick (14-9) placed 4th at sectionals and has a pigtail match against Central Columbia senior Hunter Dietterick (17-8) who placed 3rd in the Central Section. The two haven’t wrestled each other but have numerous common opponents from this season. Dietterick major decisioned Towanda’s Chase Guerin while Ingerick has fallen to Guerin twice this season, while both Ingerick and Dietterick have pinned NEB’s Connor Eastabrook.
With a win, Ingerick will advance to the quarterfinals and face No. 2 seed Max Wirnsberger (34-4) from Warrior Run.

Wellsboro senior Ryder Bowen (27-3), the North Section champ, will await and face the winner between Bloomsburg junior Hunter Collett (9-14) and Line Mt. junior Maxim Johnson (31-11). Bowen hasn’t faced either this year, has no recent common opponents with Collett and has one with Johnson. Bowen major decisioned Canton’s Leland Pepper at sectionals while Johnson pinned Pepper at the Mid-Winter Mayhem.
Williamson senior Tim Freeman (24-16) placed 4th in the North Section and has a preliminary round match against Mifflinburg sophomore Landon Moser (21-19). Freeman beat Moser 5-2 at the District 4 Duals. With a win, Freeman would face No. 2 seed Coy Bryson (41-9) from Montgomery. The two also wrestled at the D4 Duals where Bryson came out with a 13-8 win.

Williamson junior Ben Freeman (29-8) was the runner-up at sectionals and faces Montgomery freshman Evan Hugar (15-20). The two haven’t met but have several recent common opponents .. both have lost to Mifflinburg’s Landon Tucker this year, both have beaten North Penn-Liberty senior Braden Route (14-16) and also SVRC’s Lincoln Breon, who Freeman pinned in 44 seconds and Hugar pinned in 4:41.
With a win, Freeman would face the freshman Tucker (36-8).
Route placed 3rd at sectionals and has a preliminary round match against Warrior Run senior Isaiah Betz (28-9). The two haven’t wrestled each other but have a common opponent in Athens’ Judah Nason, who Route tech falled and Betz pinned.

North section runner-up, Williamson junior Luke Sottolano (32-7), faces Montgomery sophomore Ethan Hugar (6-13), the 4th place Central Section finisher. They have several recent common opponents including Hughesville’s Colton Woolever, who Sottolano pinned and Hugar fell to twice.
With a win Sottolano would advance to face Southern Columbia freshman Braylin Smith (26-6), the South Section champ.
Wellsboro junior Hayden Stevens (22-9) took 4th at sectionals and faces Central Columbia junior Clayton Whiteknight (23-6). The two have numerous common opponents on the season, including NEB’s Ben Ellis who Whiteknight pinned and Stevens has beaten four times, twice by fall.
With a win Stevens would wrestle Warrior Run junior Noah Johnson (20-12), the runner-up in the South Section.

Class 2A wrestling will begin on Friday, February 21st at 5:00 p.m.
On Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m., the 2A elimination round will begin, followed by the semifinals, the consolation quarterfinals and the consolation semis.
At 4:30 p.m., the 7th/8th place matches start, followed by the 5th/6th place bouts, the 3rd/4th place matches and at 7:00 p.m., the championship finals.
