HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: WELLSBORO'S RYDER BOWEN THROUGH TO SEMIS AT DISTRICTS (2025-02-21)

WILLIAMSPORT — Wellsboro senior Ryder Bowen continued his successful postseason run Friday night, reaching the 189 pound semifinals of the District IV Class 2A Championships.

Bowen (28-3), the North Section champ and No. 3 seed, beat Line Mountain junior Maxim Johnson (32-12) 7-2 to reach Saturday’s semifinals, and guarantee himself a spot in next week’s Northeast Regional. He’ll face No. 2 seed Coy Bryson (42-9) from Montgomery, who beat Williamson’s Tim Freeman to advance.

All four remaining Hornets lost their first match Friday night and will try to wrestle back through the consolation bracket. 

133 pound junior Mason Nowak (13-17) fell by a pin in 1:06 and will face Line Mt. senior Bradyn Schadel (23-15).

Senior Silas Mickey (13-15) lost by fall in 2:55 in his first match and next faces Central Columbia senior Crue Chipeleski (12-7).

Senior Evan Ingerick (14-10) lost 12-3 in the first round and next faces Line Mt. senior Kohen Shingara (33-12).

285 pounder Hayden Stevens, a senior, lost by a fall in 1:23 and will wrestle Southern Columbia freshman Braylin Smith (26-7) in the consolation first round. 

The first round of consolations will start at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, followed by the semifinals, the consolation quarterfinals and the consolation semis.

At 4:30 p.m., the 7th/8th place matches start, followed by the 5th/6th place bouts, the 3rd/4th place matches and at 7:00 p.m., the championship finals.
