HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: WILLIAMSON FRESHMAN WILSON WINS DISTRICT IV CHAMPIONSHIP (2025-02-22)

Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — Williamson freshman Zander Wilson kept his undefeated record intact at the District IV Championships here Saturday, going 3-0 on the weekend and winning the 107 pound title.

Wilson, now 38-0 in his first season for the Warriors, rolled to the 107-pound championship with a tech fall win Friday night, setting up a semifinal bout that most thought would be closer than it was. Wilson took on Montgomery junior Manny Stoltzfus, a two-time State qualifier and last season’s regional champ at 107 pounds, and came away with a dominant, 7-2 win.

In the final, Wilson kept Southern Columbia junior Rowen Humphrey from scoring and took the title with a 7-0 win. Wilson will take his perfect record, sectional and District titles into next week’s Northeast Regional  championships.

Joining Wilson next week will be both Luke Sottolano and Hunter Simonds.

Sottolano won two matches Friday to reach the 285-pound semifinal, where he fell 7-1 to eventual runner-up Landon Morehart from Montoursville. The junior then won two straight .. beating Central Columbia junior Clayton Whitenight 3-1 to advance to the consi final and beating Southern Columbia freshman Braylin Smith 7-0 to claim the bronze.

After falling into the losers bracket Friday night, Simonds kept his chance to advance alive with a 10-3 win over Montgomery’s Porter Hall. The junior then fell to Benton’s Seth Kolb by a tech fall but saved his season by pinning Wyalusing’s Bostyn McMicken in the 7th/8th place match, in 4:32.

Williamson’s remaining three District qualifiers all lost their first matches on Saturday and were knocked from the tourney.

Noah Robinson (127 pounds) was pinned by NP-Liberty’s Brandon Pequignot and finishes his senior season with a 14-7 record.

Senior Tim Freeman lost 6-4 to end his season, in which he finished 25-18.

Junior Ben Freeman had his 29-10 junior year come to a close with a 14-3 loss.

The Northeast Regionals will again take place at Williamsport High School next weekend. Check back here for a preview after brackets have been announced.
