HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY'S BRAYDEN PEQUIGNOT BOWS OUT OF STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH PAIR OF LOSSES (2025-03-06)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportHERSHEY — North Penn-Liberty’s Brayden Pequignot dropped a pair of matches on the first day of the 2A State Championships, bringing the senior’s season and Mountie career to a close.
Pequignot faced Marion Center junior Griffin Tinsman (30-15) in the pigtail round Thursday morning and fell 7-0 to the Southwest Regional 6th-place finisher to drop into the 127-pound consolation bracket.
There, Pequignot faced Erie Cathedral Prep freshman Kamdyn Borrero (46-5), the Northwest Regional 3rd-place winner. Borrero was knocked into the consolation bracket with a 5-1 loss to Sullivan County’s Colton Wade. Pequignot was topped 7-1 and with his second loss, was eliminated from the championships.
Pequignot, a Millersville University wrestling commit, finishes his final season for the Mounties with a record of 30-13 and compiled a 111-48 career mark.
Sophomore Bryce Pequignot, the Sectional, District and Regional champ and top seed at 114 pounds, missed weight at Thursday morning’s weigh-in and was forced to forfeit his spot in the championships.
