NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: WILLIAMSON LADY WARRIORS SEASON RECAP (2025-03-16)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION, PA — Williamson struggled to a 7-15 season, but got contributions from a number of underclassmen and qualified for the District 4 playoffs in 2024-’25.
The Lady Warriors started the season 1-4, with a win over Galeton (0-22) and losses to Austin, Athens, Northeast Bradford and Towanda. Three straight wins .. over Montgomery (3-19), Sayre (2-20) and Galeton again .. got Williamson to .500 on the year.
An eight-game losing skid was stopped with another win over Sayre and a win over North Penn-Liberty (9-13) before two more losses and a second win over Montgomery left the Lady Warriors with a 7-14 regular season record.
“Overall I feel like we overcame some obstacles early on in the season to be able to qualify for a District playoff spot,” said Head Coach Marisa Allen, “We faced a lot of adversity, but I feel like we showed growth through the season.”
With the District taking eight teams in of the classes to their playoffs, Williamson qualified as the No. 7 seed in 2A.
There, they faced No. 2 seed Muncy, falling 54-18 to the eventual 2A champs.
Senior Olivia Meisner, a Mansfield University commit, led the Warriors in scoring at 10.4 points per game and added 7.7 rebounds, 2.1 blocked shots, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 46% from the free throw line.
Junior Kenna Thomas averaged 9.4 points and led Williamson with 8.7 boards per game, including the 499th of her career. She added 2.7 blocks, 1.2 steals and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 62% from the line and hitting 21 three-pointers on the year.
Early-graduating junior Madisen Jones averaged 5.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3 steals per game, made 8 threes and shot 47% from the free throw line, while sophomore starter Bailey Snyder averaged 4.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Senior Avery Vinsek (3.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.2 spg) rounded out Williamson’s starting five while sophomores Aubrey Wells (2.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg) and Olivia Nolan (2.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg) each contributed off the bench.
“I feel like our sophomores really stepped up for us this year,” says Allen, “They were put into roles that many of them are not used to and they persevered and worked hard to get better every day. They helped to lay a strong foundation for the next few seasons.”
