NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY INDIANS SEASON RECAP (2025-03-18)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportWESTFIELD, PA — Cowanesque Valley won just three games in the 2024-’25 season, but with no seniors on the roster, Head Coach Jason Fry was able to provide valuable playing experience for their roster full of underclassmen.
“We had several unexpected events occur throughout the season affecting our outcome,” says Fry, “but they continued to play hard. We were a very young team without any seniors.”
The Indians started the season with three losses before earning two of their three season wins by topping Canton by a point and Northern Potter by three.
A dozen straight losses followed, and included a pair of 3-point defeats .. to Austin and Williamson .. and a 5-point loss to Addison. A 6-point win over Wyalusing (2-18) was followed by four straight losses to end the season.
CV averaged just over 50 points per game, led by sophomore Ashton Burdick at 13.5 ppg with 46 made 3-pointers on the year.
Juniors who saw time in the Indians’ starting lineup included Joshua Teague (8.9 ppg), Levi Stahli (8.4 ppg, 17 3’s), Carsyn Kemp (8 ppg), Parker Lee (5.9 ppg, 24 3’s) and Jacob Johnson (3.2 ppg).
Sophomore Gavin Churchill and freshman Trevon Hollenbach rounded out CV’s roster.
“I was very proud of our sophomores and freshman for stepping up and playing varsity this year,” says Fry, “Ashton Burdick had a strong year on both sides of the ball, leading the team in scoring and assists and was one of our top rebounders. He was also a great teammate. Gavin Churchill and Trevon Hollenbach got some great playing experience. I look forward to those three having a larger role next year. Also, Josh Teague and Carson Kemp played large minutes and accepted challenges throughout the season.”
“Coach Kemp and I are excited about our returning players and growth in the off season,” Fry continued, “We have some younger talent with dedication and a hard work ethic. Their contribution next year will have an instant impact on next year's season by providing us some versatility on both sides of the ball.”
