Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — Former West softball players Mackenzi Tice from North Penn-Liberty and Cowanesque Valley’s Logan Hamilton are helping the Penn College Wildcats get off to a winning start this season.

Tice, a three-time All-Tioga County ‘Player of the Year’ for the Mounties, has made seven pitching appearances for the 12-7 Wildcats. The freshman has started six games, went the distance in five and has a 4-2 record. Over her 39 2/3 innings pitched, Tice has a 2.12 ERA and 57 strikeouts.

Tice was named the United East Pitcher of the Week on Monday after going 3-0 last week with complete-game victories against Penn State Schuylkill, Rosemont and Penn State Altoona. She racked up 31 strikeouts including a career-best 16 on Saturday against the Ravens and 10 against Altoona on Sunday. Tice allowed just nine hits and one earned run across all three outings.

Hamilton, a three-time member of the All-Tioga County Softball Teams, has started 11 games behind the plate for PCT, collecting a .154 batting average with a double, two RBI and two stolen bases.

Penn College has a double-header with Lycoming on Wednesday before starting United East play with a hosted double-header with Notre Dame (Md.) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
