NTL SOFTBALL: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY EARNS 9-INNING WIN AT TOWANDA (2025-03-25)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTOWANDA — After taking an early 3-0 lead, North Penn-Liberty saw Towanda claw their way back and force extra innings, but a 3-run ninth inning secured the 6-3 NTL win for the Lady Mounties.
Liberty opened the game with a pair of singles by Maddie Smith and Addie Smith and a misplayed ball off the bat of Haley Litzelman, who would later steal home for the 3-0 lead that the Mounties took into the third inning.
Towanda plated a pair of runs in the third and tied the game at 3-all in the fifth.
After three scoreless innings, Liberty got a leadoff double from Addie Smith and Litzelman again reached base on a Towanda error. Claire Dominick put the ball in play to first allowing Smith to score and Litzelman to advance to third base.
With Gabby Parsons at the plate, Litzelman stole home before Parsons singled to make it 5-3. After stealing second, Parsons was pinch run for by Addilyn Lehman, who stole third and home to provide the 6-3 final.
Starting pitcher Elyna Booth shut the Lady Knights down in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.
Booth went all nine innings, allowing three runs (2 earned) on five hits and three walks with 15 strikeouts.
Addie Smith had two base hits, with a double, and scored a run while Maddie Smith had a pair of hits and scored.
Dominick had a hit, two RBI and scored, Parsons and Elaina Shaw each had a hit, Litzelman had an RBI and scored twice and Booth had an RBI.
North Penn-Liberty (4-0) is scheduled to return to action Thursday with a visit to Troy.
