NTL TRACK & FIELD: WELLSBORO HOSTS TRI-MEET WITH WILLIAMSON, TROY (2025-03-25)

WELLSBORO — The Hornets’ boys and girls track and field teams hosted a tri-meet here Tuesday where they welcomed Williamson and Troy.

Piper Hoprich was a four-time winner for the Lady Hornets, taking the 100 meter dash (12.35), the 200 (25.86) and was on both the first place 4x100 meter relay (53.03) and the 4x400 (4:37.64) squads.

Other members of the 4x100 were Sophia Yoder, Luna Moyer and Kate Bryant, while Moyer, Isla Twoey and Annabella Hawn joined Poprich on the 4x400 meter relay. 

Twoey won the 400 (1:07.30) and was 2nd in the triple jump (30.03.75), while Yoder was 4th in the 200 (29.79) and 5th in the 100 (13.77) and Moyer was 3rd in the 100 (13.63).

Lauren Kosek won both the 1600 meter run (5:35.94) and the 3200 (12:23.48) and was runner-up in the 800 (2:36.34) and in the 4x800 meter relay (12:30.69), along with Karah Blackwell, Molly Tice and Luisa Crocco. 

Blackwell was 3rd in the 3200 (15:59.62) and 4th in the 400 (1:24.30) while Tice was 3rd in the 1600 (7:51.29) and 4th in the 800 (3:20.74) and Crocco was 5th in the 1600 (8:14.33). 

Anja Przybycien was 4th in the 1600 (7:53.22), Kristina Belz was 4th in the 100 meter hurdles (20.41) and Jennifer Belz was 4th in the 300 hurdles (59.85) to round out Wellsboro’s showing on the track. 

Annika Gehman won three field events, taking the high jump (4-10.00), the long jump (15-01.00) and the triple jump (32-02.00) while Kristina Belz was 3rd in both the high jump and(4-06.00) and the long jump (14-09). Ella Boyce and Hawn tied for 5th in the high jump (4-02) and Boyce was 5th in the triple jump (27-09).

Paige Logsdon was 2nd in the javelin (88-00) and Taylor Main was 5th (79-05), Addison Harlan was 5th in the shot put (25-01), Katherine Whitney was 7th in the discus (70-08.50) and in the pole vault, Megan Mosher was 3rd (6-06), Elise Largey was 4th (6-06) and Brooke Wheeler was 5th (6-00). 

For the boys, Max Macias won the 1600 meter run (4:52.43), the 3200 (10:48.33) and was on the winning 4x800 meter relay team (9:03.19) along with Henry Whitney, Logan Johnson and Jude Cuneo. 

Johnson and Cuneo joined with Ransom Schultz and Jacob Baldwin to win the 4x100 (45.95) while Jonathan Carl (53.83) won the 400 and Micah Vickery (16.31) won the 110 meter hurdles. Baldwin was 4th in the 400 (59.58) while Brayden Benjamin was 3rd (20.53) in the 110 hurdles and Stephen Tokarz was 4th (21.81). 

In the 100 meter dash, Jack Bryant was 2nd (11.61), Carl was 3rd (11.75) and Jacoby Strang was 4th (11.91), while Bryant was 2nd (24.31) in the 200, Strang was 4th (24.78) and Josiah Ens was 5th (25.80). 

Cuneo was 2nd (2:26.59) in the 800 meter run with Logan Johnson taking 3rd (2:27.03), while Henry Whitney placed 3rd (5:06.78) in the 1600 and 2nd in the 3200 (11:35.54) where Henry Nowak was 5th (13:55.53). 

In the 300 meter hurdles, Schultz was 2nd (52.22), Benjamin was 3rd (53.88) and Tokarz was 5th (58.33).

In the field events, Carl was 2nd (38-11.50) in the triple jump with Micaiah Fitch taking 3rd (38-04.75 and Benjamin placing 5th (33-09.75), Fitch was 2nd in the long jump (19-05.50), Gabriel Carpenter was 2nd in the pole vault (10-00) and Vickery placed 3rd in the high jump (5-08).

Jacob Thurstin rounded out Wellsboro’s scoring with a 5th-place finish in the discus (86-03).
