Mansfield started the game with Alex Davis reaching base on an error and an Andy Hermansen single with both scoring to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Troy would answer in the bottom half though, tying the game at 2-all.

After three and a half scoreless innings, the Trojans plated two runs in the fifth to take the lead.

In the top of the sixth, Pequignot connected on a 3-run home run as part of the Tigers’ 4-run inning that included singles by Cameron Caldwell, Andy Hermansen and Cooper Shaw. 

After giving the Tigers a 6-4 lead, Pequignot relieved starting pitcher Hermansen. Troy’s first batter reached base on a Mansfield error, but Pequignot then struck out three straight Trojans to earn the win. Hermansen went five innings and Davis struck out two in the final frame to earn the save. 

Pequignot finished with two hits, including the home run, and added four RBI and a run scored, while Shaw and Hermansen each had a pair of hits, Hermansen scored twice and Shaw once.

Jason Harer and Caldwell each had a base hit, with Caldwell adding a run scored. Davis was intentionally walked twice and Caldwell was hit by a pitch twice. 

The Tigers (4-0) are scheduled to host Athens on Tuesday.
