NTL SOFTBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY WINS PITCHING DUEL WITH WILLIAMSON (2025-03-28)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportWESTFIELD — Cowanesque Valley’s Lilah LaBarron and Williamson’s Kenna Thomas had a pitching duel here Friday, with LaBarron’s Lady Indians using the game’s lone run to eke out a win over the visiting Lady Warriors, 1-0.
Both pitchers went the distance, with LaBarron earning the shutout while allowing three hits with five walks and 10 strikeouts and Thomas gave up the lone earned run on five hits and one walk with nine K’s.
After two and a half scoreless innings to start the game, CV got a two-out single by Raegan Watkins in the bottom of the third inning, followed by a LaBarron double that drove Watkins in for the eventual game-winner.
LaBarron finished with three base hits, with two doubles, and the game’s only RBI. Ashley Woodring had a double and Watson had a hit and a run.
For Williamson, Olivia Gee, Laila Hackett and Lexi Smalley each had a hit.
CV, now 2-1 on the season, is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday at Sayre, while Williamson, now 3-1, is at Line Mountain Monday.
