NT WEST SPORTS REPORT 2024-'25 ALL-TIOGA COUNTY WRESTLING (2025-03-29)

Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — Our All-Tioga County ‘Super 7’ Wrestling Team is led by ‘Wrestler of the Year’, who also happens to be the ’Newcomer of the Year’ .. Williamson freshman phenom, Zander Wilson.

Wilson racked up a 43-3 final record for the Warriors in his inaugural varsity season, won a North Section and District 4 title at 107 pounds and didn’t drop a match until an uncharacteristic loss at Regionals left him wrestling back to place third to qualify for the State Championships.

In Hershey, Wilson won his first match 10-1 before falling in his next two bouts .. to the eventual 4th and 6th place finishers.

Joining Wilson on the ’Super 7’ list is teammate Luke Sottolano, a quartet of North Penn-Liberty Mounties in Brayden and Bryce Pequignot, Riley Oakes and Bodhi Nickerson and Wellsboro’s Ryder Bowen.

Luke Sottolano went 39-11 this season, placed 2nd at Sectionals, 3rd at Districts and 3rd at Regionals to qualify for States. The junior 285-pounder dropped two straight matches in his first trip to Hershey .. the first to the eventual 4th-place finisher.

North Penn-Liberty senior Brayden Pequignot went 30-13 on the season and finished his Mountie career with 111 wins. The Millersville-commit placed 2nd at Sectionals and 4th at both Districts and Regionals at 127 pounds to qualify for States for the second time. Brayden was recognized by NTL officials with the Outstanding Sportsmanship Award, as was the entire Mountie program, as well as the District 4 Max Shnyder Scholarship.

Sophomore Bryce Pequignot went 36-5 for Liberty and was rolling through the postseason, collecting 114-pound titles at Sectionals, Districts and Regionals. An unfortunate missed weigh-in at States ended Pequignot’s second trip to Hershey early. His 36 wins on the season ties the Liberty all-time record, along with our next ’Super 7’ member ..

Riley Oakes finished his senior season for the Mounties with a 36-12 record. A cousin to Bryce and fellow Millersville commit Brayden, Oakes took 3rd in the North Section and 7th at Districts to qualify for Regionals at 152 pounds. After a preliminary-round win, he would fall short of a trip to Hershey with a pair of losses. Riley was also recognized, along with teammate Brayden Pequignot and the North Penn-Liberty program, with a Sportsmanship Award.

North Penn-Liberty’s Bodhi Nickerson burst onto the NTL wrestling scene in his freshman season, going 31-13 for the Mounties and placing 3rd at Sectionals and 7th at Districts to qualify for Regionals, where he went 2-2.

Wellsboro senior Ryder Bowen went 32-8 this season, winning Wellsboro’s first Sectional title since 2017 and placing 4th at Districts to give the Hornets their first Regional qualifier since 2013. Bowen just missed a trip to States, placing 6th at Regionals.
