NTL SOFTBALL: LADY HORNETS TOP SAYRE FOR FIRST WIN (2025-03-29)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Visiting Sayre outhit Wellsboro here Saturday, but the Lady Hornets earned their first win of the season by topping the Redskins, 8-3.
Sayre collected 11 base hits on the day to Wellsboro’s six, while both squads issued four walks and had two fielding errors.
After the Lady Redskins took a 2-0 lead to start the game, Teagan Novinger connected on a 3-run home run in the bottom half of the first to put Wellsboro up 3-2.
The Redskins tied it up at 3-all in the third inning, but Wellsboro answered by scoring five unanswered runs and pitcher Paige Logsdon allowed just four Sayre hits the rest of the way to secure the Hornets’ first win of the season.
Logsdon struck out 10 Sayre batters on her way to the complete-game win.
Novinger finished with four RBI, while Logsdon had a double, an RBI and scored two runs, Harleigh Cleveland had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, Ady Frantz and Kaylee Frazier each had a hit and a run scored and Rylee Coolidge scored two runs.
Wellsboro, now 1-4 on the season, is scheduled to return to action Tuesday at Wyalusing.
