NTL SOFTBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY DOWNS SAYRE IN SIX (2025-04-01)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportSAYRE — Cowanesque Valley built a steady lead on host Sayre and pulled away with a big sixth inning to earn their third straight win since a season-opening loss, 16-4, over the Lady Redskins.
The Lady Indians scored a run in the first inning, it was answered by Sayre and CV scored another in the second to go up 2-1. After a 2-2 third inning, Cowanesque added three runs in the fourth and Sayre made it 7-4 with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
In the sixth, CV sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine runs on four base hits, three walks, two sacrifice bunts and three Sayre errors.
Lilah LaBarron finished with three base hits and two RBI at the plate and earned the win from the pitcher’s circle, going all six innings and allowing four earned runs on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.
Ashley Woodring had two hits (3B), two RBI and a run scored, Zeraya Wilson had two hits, two RBI and scored four runs, Raegan Watson had a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Arianna Cary had a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Ella Schaar and Cassidy Andreason each had a hit and two runs scored, Katie Huzey had a hit and scored a run and Taylor Eldridge scored.
The Lady Indians, now 3-1 on the season, are scheduled to play North Penn-Liberty in Mansfield on Thursday.
