Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
WYALUSING — The Hornets used a complete-game one-hitter from Gabe Sprouse and an eight-run sixth inning to down the host Wyalusing Rams 12-2 in NTL baseball action here Tuesday.

Wellsboro took an early lead in their first at-bat as junior Marek Mascho singled to score Sprouse after he led off the inning with a walk.

The Rams answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 1-all and the score remained tied at 1-1 until the top of the 3rd when the Hornets plated two more runs.

After back-to-back base hits by Sprouse and senior Alec Magli to start the inning, Mascho hit a sac fly to center to score Sprouse, breaking the tie and putting the Hornets up 2-1. Magli scored two at-bats later on a single by senior Ryder Bowen, giving Wellsboro a 3-1 lead.

Wellsboro added one more run in the 4th on a ground ball RBI by sophomore Max Mascho to score freshman Griffin Morral.

Sprouse was hit by a pitch while leading off the 6th, then scored the very next at-bat as Magli drove him home on a base hit to left. Following a double by Marek Mascho, sophomore Coen Tennis singled to right to score both Magli and Mascho to push the lead to 7-1. Bowen then doubled to score Tennis, making it 8-1.

With two outs junior Cameron Owlett scored on a wild pitch and Magli doubled to left to score Sprouse, Marek Mascho and sophomore Syler Pietrzyk, making it 12-1.

The Rams got one run back in the bottom half of the inning.

Magli led all Hornet batters at the plate, going 3-for-5 with 4 RBI. Bowen finished 2-for-3 with a walk and 2 RBI and Marek Mascho was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Tennis, Owlett, freshman Gabe Cuneo and Max Mascho all added a hit each.

Sprouse threw a complete game from the mound, allowing two runs (1 earned) on just one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.
